15 Hitachi colleagues had the golden opportunity for an interactive dialogue session with Executive Chairman of Hitachi Ltd., Mr. Toshiaki Higashihara. Visiting Singapore for the Christmas Light-Up Ceremony, Higashihara-san set aside some time specially to speak with our colleagues in a private setting.
Our colleagues seized the rare opportunity and fired away questions ranging from future business opportunities for Hitachi to Higashihara-san’s strategic thinking skills as a top management executive of a conglomerate.

When asked about having what it takes to become a successful leader, Higashihara-san shared with fellow colleagues that it is vital to maintain a positive image in front of customers as you are seen as a representative of Hitachi. Having a customer-centric mindset throughout his entire career was also a plus for him as it allowed him to constantly think of ways to improve the company.
Placing emphasis on Hitachi’s mission to solve social issues with a human touch, Higashihara-san ended off the session by sharing that the key for Hitachi’s success moving forward will be for employees to exercise empathy and inclusion.
