Formerly Stone Apple Solutions, the acquisition by Hitachi resulted in Hitachi Consulting Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Hitachi Consulting Malaysia) today.


The similarities between Stone Apple Solutions Pte Ltd and Hitachi Consulting Co., Ltd. (HCC) led to their collaboration in 2014. With the acquisition, the company aims to propel itself towards pioneering the future. The company is actively seeking co-creation opportunities with partners to better provide solutions in areas such as Oracle, SAP, and beyond. With a strong foundation and brand presence, clients are even more confident in the offerings provided by Hitachi Consulting Malaysia.

CSR Initiatives

Business aside, Hitachi Consulting Malaysia has conducted multiple interactions with the Breast Cancer Foundation including holding talks to raise breast cancer awareness amongst employees. Hitachi Consulting Malaysia is constantly looking for ways and programmes that will improve the well-being of its employees and these were just some of the initiatives spearheaded by the company in 2018.

Tell us what you do in Hitachi.

On a day-to-day basis, I make it a point to touch base with our employees, as well as work closely with business leaders, delivery leaders, and country managers to discuss employee development.


Understand HCC was formerly Stone Apple Solutions. Through this transition, can you share some differences and how you overcame it?

The process integration started rolling out in early 2018 n Malaysia. As with all transformations, there are bound to be resistance. As a HR personnel, it is my job to step in and ensure that my fellow colleagues are well taken care of. We listen to them and try to accommodate as much as we can. Changes can be embraced if our employees understand the rationale and benefits behind it and are guided every step of the way. For Hitachi Consulting Malaysia, turnover was not an issue during the process integration. In fact, our employees strongly believe that Hitachi’s brand name will instill greater consumer confidence.


Some of the changes include the standardization of annual appraisals. Previously, we did not have a fixed period for the staff annual appraisal. It was done at the end of a year of service, with the exact date being dependent on when each individual staff joined.


We also did not have an online Leave Management System prior to the acquisition. The new Leave Management System was rolled out in June 2018. Previously, our staff applied leave through their direct supervisors via e-mail. HR then consolidates the leaves manually for tracking purposes.


Are there any upcoming HR initiatives to watch out for?

We have a multitude of activities in the pipeline currently. Our employees can look forward to having yoga sessions, badminton tournaments, and bowling, just to list a few.


How are your weekends usually like?

My weekends are as busy as my weekdays. For the past three years, I have been volunteering as an English tutor for a classroom of approximately ten 15-year-olds. I’m also a yoga practitioner for about 2 years now. The remainder of my weekends are spent with my family members.
