Indonesia's One Hitachi CSR Program
Since 2015, PT. Hitachi Asia Indonesia (HAS-IDN) has been providing health care counselling, free medical examinations and treatment for people in need. Their "Healthy Alert" activities were implemented in areas lacking in medical facilities, so they can maximize their contribution to the health of the community.
When HAS-IDN first started, they provided free treatment to 477 beneficiaries in one location. HAS-IDN started to invite other Hitachi Group Companies (GoC) to join in and transform "Healthy Alert" into a One Hitachi CSR program to do more for the community. By 2017, there were six GoCs that participated in this One Hitachi CSR program, making it possible for Hitachi to provide free treatment to 1,269 beneficiaries in 10 locations.
With Hitachi Group’s participation increasing every year, the One Hitachi CSR program has inspired more Hitachi GoCs in Indonesia to unite in social activities, showcasing the Hitachi Spirit of Harmony, Sincerity and Pioneering Spirit within the Hitachi Group.
KIWAMERU for “Liveable Factories”
Hitachi Metals (Thailand) Precision Casting Division (HMT-PCD) products casted car parts. Before 2017, the company operated at a loss and experienced frequent accidents. Factory managers introduced the principles of KIWAMERU - the act of continuing an action until one’s self is pleased, and until others are pleased. Workers and managers were encouraged to pay extra attention to safety and cleanliness, and the company reported its first operating profit and reduced the number of accidents just six months later.
The success spurred HMT-PCD to create the “Cozy Factory” program, transforming the factory into a safe, clean, liveable and workable area. Employees were assigned to clean and improve areas each day for 30 minutes before beginning work. The success of the program is evident through the 40% increase in productivity and accident-free period of 163 days.
Harmony within the Hitachi Group enabled HMT- PCD to receive training from Hitachi Asia. Their employees was sent to participate in monthly activities to develop and share knowledge with the other Hitachi Group Companies, embracing the spirit of “One Hitachi”.
