Established Asia Maintenance Service Pte. Ltd. as a maintenance company of power station.

Established Taiwan Treasury Centre in HAS-TP.

Major restructuring took place in 2003, which redefined business regions and groups. This allowed Hitachi Asia to focus its activities on Southeast Asia, India and other areas to create more milestones in different business groups.

Transferred Hitachi Semiconductor (HNS) China shares to HQ.

April

Transferred Hard Disk Drive business to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies.

Transferred HAS-HK business to Hitachi, Ltd.

July

Transferred semiconductor business and CDC Warehouse to Renesas Technology.

Transferred Asia Treasure Centre (ATC) function to newly-formed Hitachi International Treasury Ltd.

Closure of HAS-TP. Transferred remaining business to HAS-HK.

Closure of HAS-MYM Branch office.

DECEMBER

Held the 6th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative in Bangkok, Thailand.

April

Transferred shares of Hitachi Asia Taiwan to Hitachi, Ltd.

Acquired Sumber Engineering Trading Pte. Ltd. to expand Industrial Components & Equipment (ICE) business.

Held the 7th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Collaborated with Data Storage Institute on joint R&D projects.

DECEMBER

The late Dr. Tsutomu Kanai, former Chairman of Hitachi, Ltd., received the “Honorary Citizen Award”. This is the highest national award in Singapore for non-citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the country in various areas such as business, science and technology among many others.

Participated in the Sentosa Express Handover Ceremony.

Received order of 140 T/hr boiler from Petrochemical (Singapore) Company Ltd.

JANUARY

Held the 8th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative in Hanoi, Vietnam.

April

ICE Division of HAS-SIN relocated to CWT Distripark (Jurong) to expand business and support overseas sales.

May

Secured a contract to supply 47 units of elevators and escalators to the 77-storey Al-Hamra Tower in Kuwait.

2008
JANUARY

Installed Hitachi elevators and moving sidewalks at Changi Airport Terminal 3.

MAY

Received an additional order (2 sets) of monorail trains from Sentosa Development Corporation upon completion of the Monorail Project in 2006.

JULY

Held the 9th Hitachi Young Leaders Initiative in Jakarta, Indonesia.

September

Received an order for stage II repowering project for Senoko Power Station in Singapore, the first overseas repowering project.

DECEMBER

Set up Preventative Maintenance Service Division under Power & Industrial Systems Group, following the transfer from Asia Plant Maintenance Service Pte. Ltd.
