The manufacturing industry is set to play a significant role in driving future growth within ASEAN. However, as countries scale up their manufacturing efforts to meet increasing global demand, our workforces will be increasingly burdened.
ASEAN countries are expected to see a heavy labour crunch from an over-reliance on manual processes. In addition to this, COVID-19 has also disrupted global supply chains and in-person work arrangements.
To meet these new challenges, businesses are now realising that there is an urgent need to accelerate digital transformation in factories.
Smart solutions that rely on the integration of smart IoT sensors, AI and data analytics can help manufacturers to automate and streamline processes, increasing productivity and efficiency.
At the same time, remote management solutions enable companies to remotely manage their factories. This allows infrastructure to be shared across plants, reducing resource commitments and increasing convenience. Remote management solutions are also the answer to many of the new challenges posed by the pandemic, such as travel bans, national lockdowns and safe distancing restrictions.
These benefits ultimately trickle down to employees on the ground by reducing heavy workloads, hence shortening work hours and improving their quality of life.
Watch this short film entitled Supper, created by Hitachi Asia Ltd.’s (HAS) Corporate Communications Group (CCG) to showcase the positive impact such smart solutions can have on the workplace, especially once manual processes are automated:
Supper is part of CCG’s ongoing efforts to share how Hitachi is powering good in the region through social innovation. Click here to find out more about smart manufacturing and what else we’re doing to promote Hitachi’s Social Innovation Business.
