Elevating Environmental Awareness with Hitachi Elevator Asia
Hitachi Elevator Asia (HEA) always strongly believed in protecting and preserving the environment. So when the World Environment Day approached, HEA took the opportunity to hold its Environment Month on 5 June, the same day as the annual World Environment Day.
Endorsed by HEA’s management team, the Environment Month was a good chance for the company to promote an eco-friendly workplace through a series of programmes and the implementation of waste recycling. It was also a timely reminder to limit the negative environmental impacts from various activities, and work towards protecting the environment.
There were exhibits on display, such as informative banners and upcycling crafts opened to all employees throughout the day. Additionally, there was a tree made from old magazines and newspapers. Employees were encouraged to sign on a leaf cut from discarded packaging materials which was hung on the tree as a pledge to protect the environment. More of such activities will follow throughout the month.
HEA has been constantly trying to reduce its carbon footprints. Efforts include reducing the amount of electricity used, and using recycled paper whenever possible. Although it may seem insignificant, every step - no matter how small - is a step towards a cleaner and greener environment.
As the popular saying goes, “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” Proper care of the environment is essential to the quality of life for present and future generations. And HEA hopes to play a part to preserve the environment for as long as possible.
