Hitachi Plays Santa 2024: Play it Forward

On November 8th, over 100 Hitachi staff and family gathered at The Great Christmas Village for the 8th edition of Hitachi Plays Santa. Themed “Play it Forward”, this year’s celebration brought a meaningful twist where funds were raised for a meaningful cause through ‘playing’ and celebrating together. For the first time, the Christmas village was exclusively closed off for Hitachi, bringing 13 Hitachi Group Companies in Singapore together.

This year’s beneficiary was Gladiolus Place, a home for vulnerable young girls who face abuse, neglect and are at risk of abuse and delinquency. Just as Gladiolus Place aims to heal, and empower these girls, Hitachi sought to make this day an impactful and enjoyable one for Hitachi staff and the girls of Gladiolus Place alike.

The event was officially opened by the Managing director of Hitachi Asia Ltd., Mr. Shinichi Sakai, who welcomed everyone and emphasized the day’s purpose of raising funds for the selected beneficiary this year.

It was truly a day of fun and togetherness. Attendees enjoyed a variety of carnival games, rides, refreshments and even a bazaar filled with pre-loved items donated by Hitachi’s very own staff. To add to the festivities, Gladiolus Place also ran a booth, offering beautifully crafted items made by the girls, giving attendees the chance to support the cause while taking home unique and heartfelt souvenirs.

Hitachi Plays Santa 2024 was also the perfect opportunity for staff to connect with colleagues from other group companies in Singapore. Through the ice breakers and team games, new and exciting relationships were formed. With the collective efforts of our Hitachi family, the proceeds raised were able to directly fund and support the various programs for the girls at Gladiolus Place, supporting their journey toward healing and empowerment.
