Chairman Nakakita: Change is Here

Dear Colleagues,

FY2024 is the final year of the 2024 Mid-term Management Plan (MMP24). Before I dive into the importance of the New Year, let me take you through FY2023’s journey.

By now, each one of you must be aware that the entire Hitachi Group has fared very well, and this is testament of everyone’s hard work. In FY2023, the Hitachi management made some key decisions to acquire global assets, keeping the business prospects of the organization aligned with the goals to contribute to sustainable growth.

On this note, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to each one of you for your excellent contribution, and to encourage you to continue the good work.

This year is very significant for us. As we step into the final year of the MMP24, we need to reboot ourselves, amplify our efforts and work together towards achieving the goals. By positioning "Digital, Green, and Innovation" as drivers of growth in accelerating our Social Innovation Business, we will focus on fulfilling what people around the world dream about. These actions will take Hitachi closer to achieving the MMP24 milestone and will prepare the groundwork for MMP27.

“Autonomous management by region” is the top-of-the-line agenda in the MMP27 and personally, I don’t think this is a coincidence. Since I took over as Chairman of APAC in 2017, I've championed autonomy to streamline decision-making and enhance operational efficiency for the regions. While it has taken me 8 years to actualise this policy, I firmly believe in the potential for change through persistent advocacy. Maintaining focus, expressing our convictions respectfully and aligning our efforts are paramount to achieving our shared objectives.

I believe that change is here, and you will witness much more transformation as Hitachi reinvents itself.
