Hitachi Plays Santa 2023 Post-Event Summary
In its seventh edition, Hitachi Plays Santa this year saw 135 Hitachi employees from 12 Hitachi Group of Companies (GrCs) in Singapore come together as One Hitachi to donate and organise a block party for our selected beneficiary – the residents of Block 269A and 269B at Yishun Street 22.
A significant number of these residents are youths under the Singapore Red Cross’ Young Hearts Programme. The programme aims to foster self-reliance and empower Children and Young Persons (CYPs) living in public rental housing, “providing them with access to out-of-reach opportunities”.
Titled ‘Gift from the Heart’, the event on 11th November had a total of 39 Hitachi volunteers from 12 GrCs in attendance. As they generously volunteered their time, they brought the Christmas spirit to life. Reminiscent of a Christmas carnival, it was a fun afternoon with live food stations, games and activities booths, and prizes.

As the residents began streaming in, our volunteers welcomed the residents with bright smiles and enthusiasm. Some were involved in the live food stations, while others helped out at game booths, claw machines, prize collections, crowd control and more. In an afternoon, they managed to bring the Christmas cheer to 302 residents, which included children, parents and seniors.

In addition to the 39 volunteers, donors from across 12 Hitachi Group of Companies also banded together and raised a total amount of SGD$11,175. These donations went fully into the planning and running of this block party. We are thankful to all 135 donors and volunteers for making this year’s event possible.
