Hitachi Plays Santa 2019

Hitachi Plays Santa is back for the third year running and we can now call it a tradition.

With one of the world’s highest GDP growth, Singapore is a high-income economy with a gross national income of US54,530 per capita, as of 2017. For us to be living in a first-world country, it must be hard to imagine what it’s like to live in underprivileged conditions in Singapore.

Yet amidst us, there lives a group of residents who are barely making ends meet. Relying on the government’s support and through other forms of charity, this group of residents live in 1-room rental flats in Block 47, Owen Road.

And this Christmas, we would like to invite you to make a difference in their lives.

Hitachi Plays Santa 2019

How you can contribute this year? You may choose one or both option(s):

  1. Sponsor a mattress set worth $50 each (mattress + pillow + bedsheet)

We hope to raise $9,500 to purchase a good quality mattress set for about 200 families living in Blk 47, Owen Road.

You may combine with your fellow colleagues and raise one cheque to “Hitachi Asia Ltd.”.

  2. Volunteer on 23 November 2019

We need about 50 volunteers to distribute the mattress set to each family, and help on 23 November 2019, Saturday from 3pm-8pm @ Blk 47 Owen Road.

This is entirely voluntary and there is no obligation.

Simply indicate your interest to participate by 4 November 2019.

In the spirit of giving, you may also choose to donate your preloved items still in pristine condition on the event day itself. If interested, please deliver your donations directly to Blk 47 Owen Road on 23 November, 2.00pm - 3.30pm. Please understand we are only able to accept preloved donations during this window.

More about Hitachi Plays Santa 2019

Moulmein-Cairnhill Constituency’s Grassroots Leaders takes care of the residents at Blk 47, Owen Road. Since last year’s successful Christmas carnival, the constituency and its volunteers hope to organise another Christmas carnival for their residents again this year. On top of the Christmas carnival, Hitachi together with long-time partner, Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) will work together and sponsor Hippo Bus rides for the residents, as well as game booths during the Christmas carnival. Through Hitachi Plays Santa 2019, Hitachi also hopes to garner enough donation to gift a good quality mattress to each family during the most wonderful time of the year.

Slated to take place on 23 November at Pek Kio CC, MP Mr. Melvin Yong will grace the event.
