Kashiwa-no-ha Media Tour
On 15 October 2019, a Kashiwa-no-ha Smart City media tour was held. The purpose of this media tour was to allow Vietnamese media to personally witness and experience Hitachi’s cutting-edge technology and solutions that will help to solve various social challenges globally. This was also a good opportunity to showcase how Hitachi is leveraging its capabilities in IT and OT to improve people’s quality of life through increasing the economic, environmental and social values for customers.
The journalists had a chance to visit the Kashiwa-no-ha Open Innovation Lab (KOIL), one of Japan’s biggest co-working areas and the birthplace of new innovations, where they saw the exchange of creative ideas. The journalists also caught a glimpse of the Energy Building facility, one of Japan’s biggest lithium-ion storage cell systems, as well as solar and emergency gas-powered generators. The first in Japan to share power beyond a private grid, this facility is an integration of power generation, conservation, and storage.
Next, the media visited the Kashiwa-no-ha Smart Centre. As an energy management system central to the city, it oversees energy operations, management and control. The centre can cut peak power consumption by about 26% which helps to conserve energy and cut carbon dioxide emissions.
In line with the aim to champion preventive medicine by encouraging healthy lifestyles, Journalists also toured the Town Health Station, a comprehensive community health services facility.
In the last four days, these journalists were given the privilege to experience this specially curated tour that allowed them never-before access to visit the above places which will hopefully open their eyes to how Hitachi is powering good and contributing to the society.
