How Hitachi is Continuing to Contribute to Thai Society

Dedicated to the mission of contributing to society, Hitachi continued to support the Thai people on multiple fronts throughout 2021, be it in the area of environmental sustainability or in caring for citizens throughout the pandemic.

Detailed below are two of the recent initiatives that Hitachi played a part in to power good for Thailand.

Hitachi Visits the Thai Ministry of Energy

Thailand is set on a clear path towards greater environmental sustainability. The Thai government is currently striving to switch to renewable energy sources to meet the Paris Agreement goal, and the Prime Minister has committed (via COP26) to being more aggressive in addressing climate change. As a result, Thailand is now aiming to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, and net zero emissions before 2065.

Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Hitachi Energy (Thailand) Co., Ltd. have recognised the strong need for greater action against climate change. This is why a courtesy visit was made to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Kulit Sombatsiri, and the Secretary to the Minister of Energy, Mr. Kawin Tangsupanich, to consult them regarding the government’s strategy to strengthen energy security in Thailand.

In this meeting, Hitachi reiterated its strong commitment to supporting Thailand in its push towards greater energy conservation, in alignment with the nation’s green energy policy. The Thai government also shared its commitment to its strategic partnership with Japanese government for promoting energy development in Thailand, especially in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Powering Good for Thai Citizens Through the Pandemic

With Thailand facing a continued wave of COVID-19 infections and the looming threat of the new Omicron variant, Hitachi remains more dedicated than ever to supporting the country in its time of need.

Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has continued to provide aid to Thai citizens badly affected by the pandemic. To save lives, Hi Flow Oxygen Generators were donated to six public hospitals in Thailand for patients with severe cases of COVID-19. Internally, 5 of such oxygenators were also purchased to provide medical aid to employees facing COVID-19-related health complications, such as breathing difficulties.
