Fighting COVID-19 Through Vietnam’s Vaccine Fund

With Vietnam facing a fourth wave of COVID-19 infections, the need to push back against the outbreak with a strong vaccination drive is greater than ever before.

That’s why Hitachi is donating 839 million VND to Vietnam’s national COVID-19 vaccine fund – a fund aiming to mobilise resources for the purchase and import of vaccines as well as for the research, development, and production of domestic vaccines.

790 million VND has already been committed from Hitachi and a further 49 million VND has been donated from employees in Hitachi Cable Hai Duong.

Mr. Kazunori Sudo, General Director of Hitachi Asia (Vietnam), said, “The responsibility of enterprises, both domestic and foreign, has been to jointly contribute to overcome these trying times together for the good of the community, and society. Hitachi hopes that by contributing to this fund, the situation will improve swiftly, and production, and business will resume soon.”

Aside from our strong support towards the vaccination fund, we have also been helping to fight COVID-19 in Vietnam through strict adherence to pandemic safety measures.

Such measures have included transitioning to working online during social distancing, shortening work hours, halving the number of workers at factories, conducting health screenings, and requiring health declarations. During the quarantine period, regular testing was also conducted to minimise the transmission of the virus.

Even amidst the challenges and difficulties COVID-19 has created for Vietnam, Mr. Sudo shared that “Hitachi is committed to improving the socio-economic development of Vietnam”.

We hope you feel heartened by these efforts in Vietnam and are inspired to continue powering good in your countries, wherever you may be!
