A Day in the Life of our Colleague

Name: Mr. Thet Htun Khaing (Robin)
Designation: General Manager
Company: Hitachi Elevator (Myanmar) Co., Ltd.

Tell us a little about what you do in Hitachi.

As the General Manager of Hitachi Elevator (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. (HEM), I am constantly on the lookout for opportunities to further develop the company. Additionally, some of my other duties include business development planning, systematic development of each department in the company, how to work towards becoming the best in customer service and improving the bottom line (i.e. finances).

What is the most interesting thing that happened in your career with Hitachi?

Although I have many other business experiences before joining Hitachi, my learning curve in Hitachi is by far the highest. Management, technology and the Hitachi Spirit are some of my most valuable and interesting lessons in Hitachi. And these, I believe, would prepare me for the next level of my career with the company.

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.

For me, I would like to think that I am a good cook as cooking for my loved ones makes me happy. In the weekends, I go to the market to buy fresh food to whip up something special for my son and daughter.

What is your favourite traditional local delicacy in your hometown?

My home town is located in the centre of Myanmar and in the division of Mandalay. There, people have calm and peaceful lives where they mostly enjoy homecooked food. But of course, there are also some traditional foods that made the town popular. Myanmar traditional tea leave salad, Monte and Paratar salad are some popular delicacies. Of these, my favourite is Monte - big rice noodle salad. It is a mix salad of big rice noodle, chicken, bean powder, chilli-oil, fish sauce and onion. For me, this is very delicious breakfast that is best taken with Myanmar sweet tea.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

When HEM was first established in August 2015, the market situation was very volatile.

In the last four years, we had struggled a lot but we always believed in achieving our targets. As a founding member of HEM, I aspire to achieve beyond our targets and bring the company to greater heights.
