Hitachi Plays Santa 2018
-Post Event Report-


Throughout the holiday season, the Hitachi Group of Companies in Singapore came together as “One Hitachi” to contribute back to the society.


Together with the Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA) and The Food Bank Singapore, Hitachi Played Santa to over 300 social service users on 7 December at the Great Christmas Village. The social service users enjoyed an afternoon of exciting activities including free and unlimited amusement rides. Each family also walked away with a goodie bag of essential food items, with additional gifts and candies given to the children, courtesy of Hitachi staff volunteers.

1) Packing of Food Bundles

Date : 7 December 2018, Friday

Time : 11.15 am – 1.00 pm

Venue : L3, ALIVE Room @ Hitachi Square, Singapore

16 Hitachi staff volunteers from the various Hitachi GOCs participated in the packing of food bundles. Additional candies and drinks utilising $150 NTUC vouchers were also packed by volunteers to distribute to the beneficiaries at the event.

2) Actual Event

Date : 7 December 2018, Friday

Time : 3.00pm – 6.00pm

Venue : The Great Christmas Village, Civic Plaza (outside Ngee Ann City Singapore)






Packing continued at The Great Christmas Village to include 2 packets of vermicelli and 1 pack of milk into the food bundle. At the same time, the gifts for children (i.e. a Smiggle pencil case) were also delivered directly to the event venue where the volunteers rushed to pack before the start of the event.

A. Hitachi Santa House




Interior of the Hitachi Santa House with GBC exposure. The sponsorship of the Hitachi Santa House also included a Santa Claus (on weekends) for photograpy. When Santa is off-duty, the Hitachi Santa House is converted to an art and craft corner for children to unleash their creativity.

B. Fringe Activities





Children were free to take unlimited fun rides at the village.

Balloon scultptoring and candy floss were provided by ORBA. There were also a lunchbox for everyone, as well as stage perfomances for children and guardians to enjoy.

C. Distribution of Food Bundle

Distribution of goodie bags took place towards the end of the event.

It’s a wrap! The Hitachi staff volunteers who took time off to pack the food bundles and spent an afternoon with the beneficiaries.
