Security Association Singapore and Hitachi Asia sign MoU to set up a Business Continuity Operations Centre

Singapore, March 03, 2021 – Security Association Singapore (“SAS”) and Hitachi Asia Ltd. (“Hitachi Asia”), announced today that SAS and Hitachi Asia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a Business Continuity Operations Centre (BCOC) for the security industry in Singapore.

The BCOC will meet part of the requirements of the new Security Agency Competency Evaluation announced in Parliament by Minister of State (Home Affairs) Desmond Tan on 1 March 2021 and will be part of a packaged solution that SAS will introduce to help security agencies meet the new criteria.

Both organizations have a common belief that security agencies need to move away from a headcount-based model, to deliver on-demand integrated security solutions powered by technology for real-time monitoring and intervention.

Security agencies’ business continuity revolves around ensuring that the agency can maintain command and control of its officers and operations even if its command centre is down. The BCOC is the only solution in Singapore that will be able to provide security agencies with a plug-and-play standby command centre.

SAS and Hitachi are delighted to partner with each other on this initiative that will improve the standards of the security industry in Singapore and ensure seamless provision of services even in a crisis.

Hitachi’s mission is to “Contribute to society through the development of superior, original technology and products.” Under this mission, Hitachi is committed to its Social Innovation Business around “Powering Good”. By doing so, it will continue improving the quality of life and happiness for people and construct a sustainable society, in collaboration with customers and business partners and realize the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). It calls on Hitachi’s heritage, spirit of collaboration and its technology to do better for generations to come.
