The annual Christmas Light-‐Up @ Orchard 2010 (CLU) returned for the 27th year in 2010 with a classy take on the décor, transforming Orchard Road into a glittering world of stars and shimmering ornaments from 20 November 2010 to 2 January 2011.
The festive theme, “Starlit Christmas”, once again celebrated Singapore as a top-‐of-‐ mind and must-‐visit year-‐end destination. Orchard Road lit up as the premier fashion shopping and lifestyle destination in Singapore, and received international accolade from Frommer’s, a popular US-‐based series of travel guidebooks, which gave Orchard Road a spot amongst “World’s Best Holiday Lights: 10 Decorated Cities”.
Fresh hope and optimism shone overhead with the million stars. The Star is an eternal symbol of all that is good and beautiful in the universe. It is also an irreplaceable icon of Yuletide love, peace and joy.
The entire CLU zone extended 2.2km from Tanglin Road to Scotts Road and Orchard Road. The impactful street decoration (which included over-‐street, tree and pedestrian level public space lighting) made “Starlit Christmas” on A Great Street come alive with shimmer and style.
