The Hitachi Eco Conference 2012 was held on 16 February 2012 at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. This was the third Eco Conference organized by Hitachi and the first to be held in Indonesia.
This year, the theme of the Eco Conference was “Economic Development and Sustainable Infrastructure” and the event included a keynote presentation, two seminars and a panel discussion after each seminar. The event was endorsed by the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) and the Guest-of-Honour was H.E. Armida Alisjahbana, Minister for National Development Planning.
Keynote Speaker Mr El-Mostafa Benlamlih (United Nations Resident Coordinator) delivered an insightful presentation on “Sustainable Infrastructure for the Asian Century”, exploring new paradigms on sustainable infrastructure which could provide sustained growth in Asia and beyond. Notable seminar speakers included Prof. Dr Emil Salim, (Chairperson of the Advisory Council to the President of Indonesia), Dr Ir. Rr. Endah Murniningtyas (Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry for National Development Planning), Ms Shinta Widjaja Kamdani (Vice Chairwoman, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Environment and Climate Change) and Dr Arianto Arif Patunru (Director of Institute for Economic and Social Research, University of Indonesia).
About 383 participants from government organizations, business sectors, universities, NGOs, media and the Hitachi Group attended the Hitachi Eco Conference 2012. An exhibition which showcased Hitachi’s extensive range of environmentally-friendly products and solutions was also organized in conjunction with the conference.
